Hills Like White Elephants
Hemingway's short story, Hills Like White Elephants, was a story that started off as if it was something very simple. A couple sitting down waiting for a train and talking about a problem that was not directly mentioned. Nothing big, right? I found this story very interesting because once you read the story and realize that they are actually talking about an abortion, it makes you think about how in reality we as humans also tend to go about certain problems. In the story they avoided calling the problem by it's name, they named everything in this story but what the problem is, in this case the abortion. Although, this conversation evolved because Jig had to make a decision about whether or not she keeps the baby, this problem also brought up the internal problems the characters had beforehand.
